  i've wanted to scan this issue as soon as i could get my hands on it, so here it is.

  some of the pictures are little screwed up because of the scan resolution, but it's all readable.

  "They came into the "truth" after they got their college education. " (somebody please teach me to use the quote function )

  I'm sure that is the case. But I got real sick of that argument while growing up in a cong. where most of the elders had 4 year degrees and lived in expensive homes. I was expected not to get an education or have a career. If I had, I would have been treated as a "marked" one, not have my face plastered all over the Awake. Sorry, I don't mean to hijack the thread onto a different path. I'll be quiet now. Thanks again for the post.

  Getting Hitched

  i just want to share this with you all.. a few weeks ago, trev (dedpoet) popped the question, and of course i accepted, so we are getting married!!

  we have been busy getting things started since then, hence the slight delay in posting our news.

  we aren't in a particular hurry, as we have no desire to have children.

  Thanks for the post. Great scan!

  I haven't read it yet, but I glanced it over. It is interesting that they interviewed a scientist that they identified as Catholic. But what is really amazing to me is the number of Jehovah's Witnesses who have become scientists working for prestigious institutions without getting a college education. Wow!

  i would like to start again, but am averse to reading the nwt.

  I came home to find my wife crying over THAT article.

  i came home today to find my wife crying whilst reading the 'when a loved one leaves jehovah' article.

  its been a good few months now and i can appreciate how she feels.

  but it just irritates me how my disagreeing with this religion has such a catastrophic effect on our everyday lives.

  "The full knowledge & awareness that no matter what I did, no matter how long or hard I tried, it was never, ever, EVER going to be enough!!!"

  Yeah, Desert Rat, that one is at the top of my list. The constant stream from the podium - "could you do more, brothers? Are you doing all you can? Could you do more?" I think the local brothers know it is unreasonable to expect more from most, but are just parroting off whatever is coming down from the top. I finally got to the point where I decided that every time I heard that, I was going to do a little bit LESS. It didn't take long before I was doing NOTHING.

  the iranian executed a 16 year old girl by public hanging for violating "chastity" laws.. and you wonder why the israelis fight these sort of people?

  I agree with metatron on this one. What is their "new system" going to be like, according to them, after the "Thousand Years"? The way I heard it when I was in, any who stray after that point will be immediately eliminated. That's their ideal world. Of course, they say they won't do the executing - God will. They also say He will kill anyone who disagrees with them any day now at Armaggedon. But they are a peaceful people, right? I've got a new term for them - Pacifist Aggresive

  My therapist says that the reason they go along with stuff like this is that they are trying to reassure themselves that they don't want to leave. Leaving is hard. Leaving is scary. Not everyone has the guts to do it. I'm glad I did.
